Housing Code

Condemnation
Condemnation refers to the process by which private property is taken for public use with compensation provided to the property owner. This is often done under the legal right known as eminent domain. Alternatively, it can also refer to the declaration of a structure as unfit for use.
Housing Code
"The Housing Code is a set of local government ordinances that establish minimum standards for safety and sanitation in existing residential buildings. These regulations ensure that living conditions in older buildings remain safe and habitable for tenants. Housing Codes typically address structural soundness, pest control, and basic living necessities like running water and heating, contrasting with Building Codes, which apply to new construction."
Violation
A violation in real estate refers to an act or condition that is contrary to law or permissible use of real property. Examples include illegal business operations in residential zones and non-compliance with housing codes such as non-functioning plumbing in occupied apartment buildings.
